May 30, 2007: Band Update
Hello 2DW fans! I have heard some of you ask "what are you guys doing these days"? Well, it's a busy, crazy time for 2 Days Warning. We are deep into the recording of our second CD, with the working title “Songs in the Key of K (for Kickass)”. The band is working hard and recording what has to be some of the best work we have ever done. Jeff has set up a new computer-based studio that has offered us much better quality and flexibility. These songs on this second CD are true collaborations, unlike our last CD, every single track has creative input from each member of the band. This has really solidified a sound that is uniquely "2 Days Warning".
The band has been busy with their personal lives as well. We have two new members to the family after this winter. Congrats to both Dean and Matt on their new arrivals. I know it has been awhile, however we are working hard and will have some great new music to share with you soon. Take care and be sure to check back often for updates and news.
~Mike
May 22, 2006: Band Update
Ok, Ok. Life has a funny way of moving on without you if you’re not paying attention. With that said, here’s
the latest on what’s happening with the 2DW crew:
It’s true. It’s CD #2!!
Preproduction has begun on the yet-to-be-titled sophomore effort from the greatest band that never was. We have
plenty of good material while ideas for new songs keep popping up every time we meet. I’d love to give you more
of the juicy details but you’ll just have to wait. Regarding the next (but not last) CD project, Tincher says,
"I'm totally stoked about the new CD. I think the songs are going to be stronger and will have a better
flow/feel to them."
There is talk of playing a fundraising effort in September of this year. Again, we’ll keep you posted on the
details as they become available. Really! That’s all I know at this point!!
Eric is home from the great sandbox. He actually set his feet on US soil October of last year. Life has thrown
him a couple of fast curveballs. He has taken his swings and survived them. He is better off because of it. Having
been deployed to Iraq for most of last year has given him new experiences to devour - "I've really been forced
to learn a lot about myself and have been able to come through both my divorce and Iraq as a stronger person."
We’re so glad he’s back and in one piece. Thank you for your service.
Mike is finishing up with another school year and couldn’t be more excited. He has offered up more than his
quota of song ideas for this CD project. He has been warned and promised us it would not happen again. We’ll
see. He writes, “I have been real busy writing music and playing live as much as possible with other side
projects. Anyone interested in listening to one of the 2DW guys, can catch me every Sunday night at the
Double Deuce in Topeka. I play each week at the open mic night. I will be playing drums. However, I have been
known to grab a guitar and play a little there also. Keep the faith! Your favorite band is still number one in
my heart and is working hard to bring you the best basement tapes we can write. Take care.”
Matt will celebrate 10 years of marital bliss this June. He asks, “Can you believe my wife has not kicked me
out of the house yet?!” He continues, “My daughter, Hadley, will turn 3 in August. She is already smarter
than I am!! (I'm not kidding).” Well said Matt, well said! It appears that Mike isn’t the only one from 2DW
working on side projects. “I'm playing in my church praise band. I get to play with some very talented musicians
which is scary. But, they think I'm really good! So, this shows you they are not that smart when it comes to bass
players." It appears that others are seeking after his monster bass playing skills. "I've been asked to play with a
50's and 60's group. I might consider it. I've also been asked to join an acoustic jam band with some guys from my
church. Wow, maybe I can make a living at this? NOT!”
Good news at my house. My wife and I are expecting our second child in October. We will find out this week if we need
blue or pink paint for the room. My daughter Madeline will begin kindergarten this fall. She’s excited about having a
sister but isn’t as comfortable with the thought of having a brother. What a trip! I never would have guessed that I’d
have two kids, a job I dig and friends like these. God is good!!
Again, thanks for checking in. Until next time…
Dean
September, 19 2005: Band Update
Hello all! We apologize for the lack of updates. 2005 has been an interesting year so far with many ups and a few downs.
The great news is 2DW is still going strong and getting better all the time. We are currently writing new material for the
second CD yet to be titled. Our goal is to have an abundance of tunes to choose from for the next release. If my memory
serves me well, I think we're up to 12 songs with more on the way. We've slightly altered our approach to the creative
process which has been a positive thing overall. Full-on electric rehearsals have given way to stripped down acoustic
sessions that allow for greater focus not to mention we can hear everything much better. Recently, Mike has offered up new
material that has great potential. Jeff continues to find inspiration in the unlikeliest of places. Matt and I have even
had our share of contributions that may prove worthy of consideration. Needless to say, the work continues and we are very
excited about what the future holds for 2DW and our fans, all three of you!
In other news, our brother Eric will be home soon from his tour of duty in Iraq. No date for his arrival has been determined,
but rumor has it he could be home before the 8th of October. He has moved out of his luxury beach-front condo and into more
humble surroundings in preparation for his replacements. His recent messages are filled with hope and unbridled enthusiasm to
get home and see family and friends again and of course get caught up on all that 2DW has been working on since his departure.
It will be great to have him back.
Thanks for checking us out. Additional updates will be added here in the near future so please pop in for a visit anytime.
You can always contact us should you feel so inspired. Until next time, consider this your 2 Days Warning!

December 13, 2004: Band Update
Not much has been going on lately. Real life has intruded on our schedules, making jam/recording sessions difficult to
schedule. The big news is that our brother Eric has been called to active duty in Iraq. He will be leaving us in
January 2005 to protect our freedom and and the freedom of millions in the Middle East. We couldn't be prouder of Eric. The website
now has a new section dedicated to Eric whie he is serving overseas. When we get his email/APO address information we will post
it there so that everyone can send emails and care packages to our brother and his comrades in his unit. More big news:
November 20th, the Phi Delta Theta fraternity held a send-off party for Eric, and 2 Days Warning had our first live gig! Well, it
consisted of only 2 songs: the 2DW original "Steamroller", and a cover of the Violent Femmes classic
"Blister In The Sun". It went pretty well, and hopefully will be the first of many live gigs we can play!!
December 29-30 we will be having a jam session to work on new material, revisit some of the older 2DW tunes, and
say our goodbye's to Eric before he heads off to Iraq.
August 1, 2004: Band Update
This past weekend (July 24-25) we started recording the first 3 songs for our next CD. The songs are titled
"In Your Smile", "Finally I'm Free", and "Walkin' Shoes". Not all of the recording was completed, so on August 21 we
will finish up recording all the parts for those songs. Once that is done, we'll work on the next 2 songs we have
ready called "Storm Within" and "Wanderlost". Deano took a few pictures, and those are available from the Pictures
section of the web site. Also, Chuggy had some video cameras running during the sessions, and he's now pouring over the tapes and
editing all of the footage to come up with some "video diaries" of us in the studio. Look for those to be up on the site
soon. Hasta la vista!!
June 1, 2004: Band Update
We've added another original song to the list called "Storm Within". This is the song that Jeff demoed last month. We did some jammin'
on this one in the last practice and the tune is good to go. We've scheduled July 24-26 in Thanks For Nothing studios to begin
recording the first batch of songs. Until then, there's not a whole lot going on with the 2DW crew right now, just preparing
for the studio and working on more song ideas. Eric and Matty are working on a new song called "Amy". I think this one is going
to have a mellow vibe to it, hopefully it'll be far enough along that we can work on it in our next practice session.
That's all for now!
May 1, 2004: Band Update
Currently, 2DW is writing and rehearsing new material for their as-yet-untitled second CD. So far, we have
four songs ready to record. Song titles are: "Wanderlost", "Finally, I'm Free", "Divorce Blues", and
"In Your Smile". Once Dean-o gets his new Mapex drum set, we'll start recording these songs. Jeff is currently
demoing a new song we wrote in last Saturday's practice session. The group will need to do a little more work
on this one, but its a pretty cool song with a lot of dynamics. We've also got other song ideas that we're woking
on so stay tuned!!
April 20, 2004: Mike mauled by bear; has knee operation!!
Well...not really. Our man Mike broke his tibia around the kneecap while...walking down stairs. Yes, it sucks
being old!! Anyway, Mike needed to have a couple of screws put into his leg today. He's doing fine, especially
considering that his doctor gave him a prescription for Percocet AND Vicodin!! Mike is all smiles these days!!
He'll be gimpy for a few months, but soon enough he'll be thrashing about the stage again.
April 16, 2004: Out Of The Blue released
